Facebook, which replaced the Windows 10 OSMeta Instagram app with the Progressive Web App (PWA) last December, has also activated this change on Instagram. Instagram, which last received a desktop update on July 13, 2018, has started to serve with its new PWA-based version as of today.
The new update adds support for DM (Direct Message) on the desktop. This allows users to access their messages and send messages to anyone they want via the desktop app. The update also includes the usual bug fixes and some improvements.
You can now send messages from Instagram's desktop app
By the way, the updates in question are valid for the Instagram app, which you can download for free from the Microsoft Store. Therefore, let us remind you that only Windows 10 users can benefit from Instagram's desktop direct message feature for now.
On the other hand, the transition of Instagram's desktop version to PWA base shows that the application will witness much more innovation in the coming days. The application may also support some popular features such as Augmented Reality (AR) camera filters in the future.
